CTAW is excited to launch Cabin Fever, A One Act Festival, an evening of original short plays created by local artists and presented on Saturday, January 30, 2027, at CTAW’s home, the Woodbury Old Town Hall, 5 Mountain Rd. Woodbury, CT 06798.

We are seeking unpublished short plays that run approximately 10-20 minutes. The theme is Cabin Fever, and writers are encouraged to interpret it broadly. Think winter isolation, restlessness, long nights, unexpected company, being stuck together, being stuck in life, or whatever happens when the walls start to feel just a little too close. Comedy, drama, mystery, romance, horror, and everything in between are welcome. Previously produced plays are eligible. Content should be geared towards an adult audience. Playwrights may submit more than one piece. Playwrights can direct their own piece or supply a director of their own.

  • Submission deadline: November 27, 2026

  • Selected plays notified: November 30, 2026

  • Lighting and sound cues due: January 4, 2027

  • Tech rehearsal: January 28, 2027

  • Dress rehearsal: January 29, 2027

  • Performance: Evening of January 30, 2027

What Participating Teams Will Be Responsible For

  • Selected playwrights and directors will be responsible for casting their productions, scheduling and conducting rehearsals, and providing any specialty props, costumes, or set pieces required for their plays. CTAW will provide basic set furniture, including chairs, tables, and a small sofa. Because of the size of our performance space and the festival format, we cannot accommodate large or elaborate set pieces. All additional items should be portable, reasonably sized, and easy to move on and off stage.

  • Participating teams will also be responsible for arranging their own rehearsal space. CTAW will provide access to the performance space only for the scheduled tech rehearsal and dress rehearsal.

  • Directors must provide all lighting and sound cue requirements to our technical director by January 4. We will do our best to accommodate requests within the capabilities of the space and shared festival format.

  • Selected teams must be available for both the January 28 tech rehearsal and January 29 dress rehearsal.
